It’s Finished

Tom Chick reports that the epic Civ IV mod Fall From Heaven 2 is now complete, basic patch work aside.

I haven’t played FFH in a very long time. The last time I did so, I had some issues with the AI. It changed so many rules and involves so many upgrades that your computer opponents seemed to stall. Word is that this is no longer an issue, though I suspect it still works better as a multiplayer experience

This has been a major undertaking for the team, so congratulations to Derek Paxton for finally reaching Version 1.0. I hope there’sa job in this for you somewhere.

As a longtime FFH2 player, I’ve played at least 50 game FFH2 games well into the endgame phase and have mostly enjoyed them. The mod certainly has evolved in game concepts, graphics and even in AI.

The last is for me the most important and still the least successful element in FFH2 fun: although the latest version is noticeably more aggressive and challenging, I still don’t see it employing magic as forcefully as one would expect given magic’s importance in the game world.

Nevertheless the single player version is still robust and challenging. You will be challenged. I’m pleased and hopeful that the promised (yes, promised!) AI improvements will finally give us AI opponents capable of using magic much better than they do now . I’d love to see that.
