It certainly looks beautiful from those screenshots – but can it fight? I’m interested even though I ultimately passed on the first one after the demo had such ultra-accurate AI gunners. The seeming lack of enthusiasm on gaming forums for what looked like an interesting advancement in tactical gaming also made me wary: somehow the more realistic looking these games become, the less accepting we are of tactical flaws; real or imagined. I can play an old hackneyed warhorse like John Tiller’s Advance of the Reich and overlook tactical oddities but when a game becomes very realistic I want a correspondingly rational AI opponent.
I think I’ll get TOW2 sometime – and probably TOW when/if the price drops a bit – but in the meantime, I’ll be waiting for even more recon reports.
