“Will that be as powerful if you have an entire planeload of people running around Rapture?”
Ya know, I could actually see them doing this. Maybe instead of a plane crash it’s a shipwreck (as a side note gee, wouldn’t that have been more of a sure thing than crashing a friggin’ plane into the ocean and hoping your boy survives?) and then it goes into a bog standard survival-horror flick as the group explores the city while they are mysteriously picked off one by one.
Granted, with Verbinski at the helm I don’t see it going the horror movie route, but I could definitely picture some Hollywood peabrain pitching it that way.

But survival horror makes a really un-compelling thriller. You watch it to see _how_ everybody’s going to get killed.

Just a thought: what if the movie did just consist of a single character wandering through the ruins, but when he picked up the voice recordings they turned into flashback scenes?

By no means was I implying that’s what they should do, just that I can imagine it being pitched that way…

While I like Adam’s idea, I think it could also be a great film if it was about the events that take place prior to the video game. The fall of Rapture (experienced in game via the voice recordings) would make for a pretty interesting movie, thematically, while also keeping the eye candy for those of us with limited attention spa—
