Don’t miss John Harris’s interview with Tarn Adams, the creator of one of the best (and most user unfriendly) city/empire builders in recent memory. Dwarf Fortress is a game that is captivating, addictive and terribly, terribly mean.

Wow, you’re burning up the keyboard today! Go, speed blogger, go! ;)
Interesting read, although I wish they would have asked something like, “Your UI is ass. Are you ever going to fix it?” Or at least he could explain why he’s so dead set on leaving it as it exists.

I’m now playing a game called Ship Simulator 2008. There is a lot of time to kill when you pulling into San Francisco harbor. Plus, I hadn’t updated in a few days, so a few contentless posts will make up for it.

“Long distance travels , open ocean voyages between ports” Not sounding so good. But wait…
“Visible damage system”
Better.
“Advanced damage system showing dents and holes in the ships after severe collisions”
Even moreso.
“Addition of icebergs which cause damage when you collide with them”
Now we’re cooking with gas!
So, have you used the editor to see if you could turn it into the nautical equivalent of a demolition derby yet?

Agree? Disagree?

I can’t say much until I finish the review, but you like it more than I do.

It’s still an Alpha version. I guess the interface will be updated one day — when all the underlying stuff is in place… in a few years. The to-do list on the website is sheer endless.
