So happy to be the first to comment on this episode! I’m a passionate follower of esports (though I don’t follow as broad a set of games as Rod), and have probably been consuming a couple of hours of Starcraft content a day for the past 2 years since it came out.

I’ve always loved strategy games, and Starcraft: Broodwar was the first time I sat down with a game that just blew.my.mind! I could watch my friends play it and never touch a keyboard but stay riveted by the possibilities of what strategies were or weren’t being used. This game is the one that brought me out of turn based strategy games, and I’ve liked a broader amount of strategy games since then.

So it is really great to see the intersection of my favorite gaming podcast with one of the best representatives of competitive esports there is. Rod did a stellar job representing fans, and I hope you guys continue to follow the scene as 2012 seems to be a break out year for shows like MLG and the barcraft scene.

Another reason I wanted to say thanks is that traditional video game journalists have not really gotten into admitting that esports is a “thing” yet, and I only hear about it in bits in pieces when individual journalists who follow the scene. I think games like Starcraft and LoL are going to force folks to recognize it in the near term.
