It had a great score, a great title and a great design. So it was just a matter of time before one of Tom Chick’s forum friends got around to chatting with him about Emperor of the Fading Suns on his Quarter to Three games podcast.

Very nice. I owned this game ‘back in the day’ and loved the soundtrack. I didn’t have the patience to try to figure out where to start with it, as the game always seemed wide open (sorta like EU3).

I love that game, but I don’t think I ever played it to the end. Eventually it would become too confusing, as I was waging war on 10 different planets, while trying to streamline my production chains on 5 other planets. Some of the concepts were pretty unique, though. Limited space ships (as I recall), limited nobles, and an inquisition ready to attack if you researched forbidden technology. I wish someone would pick this up and make a streamlined sequel/remake, with less micromanagement.
