Solium Infernum Game Diaries

December 9th, 2009 by Troy Goodfellow · 2 Comments · Blogs, Cryptic Comet

Josh Bycer has been taking a look at the mechanics of Solium Infernum on his game design blog.

Three entries in his diary so far (1, 2, 3) and he has so far covered only the very early steps of the game. They are clearly written and would be helpful to many newcomers. Hopefully he will update soon so more people can appreciate what makes this game so special.

Troy, I also have a Solium Infernum Game log[1] on the go at the moment, basically mulling over the choices presented to an SI newbie like myself, on a turn by turn basis. Its a PBeM game I got involved in through the Cryptic Comet forums, and I wanted to reveal the mechanics to others as well as the thought processes involved. I can’t guaratee that they’re the right choices though. :)

Another PBeM game I’m organised through Quarter to Three is also being blogged and so I was also inspired by JM’s Hell’s Tales.[2]

Since I view the PBeM game as a learning experience for myself and others (hopefully) I wantonly reveal all, whereas on Hell’s Tales, JM is keeping some information back until his game has ended.

Oh, I’ve finally managed to get my act together and knock together a proper blog site at sugarfreegamer.com, so I hope to update that fairly frequently – but don’t fret I’ll still be posting up here too. :)

Thanks for the shout out Troy, parts 4 and 5 are now up talking about turn orders and diplomacy respectively. 6 is in the works now as I go into detail about single champion combat, which is going to be a learning experience as it is my first time using it.
