Halo Wars Big Hit?

July 20th, 2009 by Troy Goodfellow · 3 Comments · Consoles, Ensemble

Gamasutra’s Matt Matthews is reporting that Halo Wars, Ensemble’s Swan Song title, is one of the top 5 Xbox 360 games of 2009 so far.

The estimate is between 500k and 700k units sold – a good sized total, but I was under the impression that a title needed to sell over a million to make a list like this. Yeah, we are only halfway through 2009.

So I guess congratulations are in order for the success of Halo Wars. Always nice to go out with a hit. Wish I liked it more.

btw. there is a great book about the VOC/ East India Company by Mike Dash “Batavias Graveyard”… a recommended read to get some context of the time and setting… I will post this again in the expected East India Company posts here (later)….

Wow, that list of top sellers is pretty uninspiring, as should be expected of any pre-holiday list. I’m glad Halo Wars seems to have sold a reasonable number of copies, but yeah, 500k-700k copies sold doesn’t seem like a “big hit” to me.
