Space Games Analyzed

February 20th, 2007 by Troy Goodfellow · 4 Comments · Sci Fi

Tea Leaves writer Peter Berger is starting a series of articles on space conquest games.

Up for consideration this week are Delta Tao’s Spaceward Ho!, various iterations of Master of Orion, Stardock’s Galactic Civilizations 2, Reach For the Stars! from SSG and Matrix Games, and Space Empires V from Malfador Machinations and Strategy First. I’ll be covering each of these in their own articles.

I’ll post any comments on his comments in his comment section. Unless I think they need a bigger answer.

Everyone always forgets Emperor of the Fading Suns. Best game ever but has no AI to speak of. Too bad it doesn’t run under XP.

Emperor of the Fading Suns really was amazing at first. Then you realized that your opponents weren’t doing anything really. Such a shame.

I definitely got it running under XP a bit ago, but I don’t remember exactly how.

I have it running on Windows XP as well; don’t think I did anything special to do so.

Loved the game; its quite high on the list of games I’d like to remake.

At one point I wanted to play Emperor of the Fading Suns, but buying it was, effectively, impossible. So I’ve never tried it. Therefore I can’t review it.
