{"id":955,"date":"2008-05-18T14:39:23","date_gmt":"2008-05-18T18:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flashofsteel.com\/index.php\/2008\/05\/18\/the-road-to-indie-success\/"},"modified":"2008-05-18T14:39:23","modified_gmt":"2008-05-18T18:39:23","slug":"the-road-to-indie-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flashofsteel.com\/index.php\/2008\/05\/18\/the-road-to-indie-success\/","title":{"rendered":"The Road to Indie Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>N&#8217;Gai Croal has loaned <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.newsweek.com\/blogs\/levelup\/\">one of the most important chairs in games journalism<\/a> to Bill Harris (from <a href=\"http:\/\/dubiousquality.blogspot.com\/\">Dubious Quality<\/a>) for a two part interview with Vic Davis, the man behind <em>Armageddon Empires<\/em>, one of my favorite games of 2007.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.newsweek.com\/blogs\/levelup\/archive\/2008\/05\/13\/180-degrees-the-secret-of-armageddon-empires-indie-success-part-i.aspx\">Part One is here.<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.newsweek.com\/blogs\/levelup\/archive\/2008\/05\/13\/180-degrees-the-secret-of-armageddon-empires-indie-success-part-ii.aspx\">Part Two is here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Harris and Davis use site views and sales to track consumer interest, and it&#8217;s nice to see this sort of thing out in the open in a games analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The story of Armageddon Empires is an interesting one. Part Two concludes with Harris&#8217; dissection of AE as a viral success, spreading through word of mouth.
