So Happy New Year. <\/p>\n<p>We begin to see the number of strategy titles grow, too, as we march towards the holiday season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 3<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Seven Kingdoms: Conquest<\/em> (Enlight)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 4<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Sims 2: Bon Voyage<\/em> (Maxis\/EA)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 10<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Galactic Assault: Prisoner of Power<\/em> (Paradox\/Wargaming.net)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 17<\/strong> &#8211; <em>The History Channel: Great Battles of Rome<\/em> (CDV\/Slitherine)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 18 <\/strong>&#8211; <em>World in Conflict<\/em> (Sierra\/Massive), <em>Fantasy Wars<\/em> (Atari\/1C), <em>XIII Century: Death or Glory<\/em> (Atari\/1C)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 24<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts<\/em> (THQ\/Relic), <em>Escape from Paradise City<\/em> (Focus Home\/Sirius)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 25<\/strong> &#8211; <em>The Settlers: Rise of an Empire<\/em> (Ubisoft\/Blue Byte), <em>Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East<\/em> (Ubisoft\/Nival), <em>Crusader Kings: Deus Vult<\/em> (Paradox), <em>Strategic Command 2: Weapons and Warfare<\/em> (Battlefront\/Fury)<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 30<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Jazz: Hired Guns<\/em> (GFI Russia)<\/p>\n<p>Mostly expansion packs, but there&#8217;s a lot of them. <em>Company of Heroes<\/em>, the best game of 2006, will offer new campaigns and British Allies. <em>Sims 2<\/em> gets its vacation pack (Is it just me, or are the <em>Sims 2<\/em> expansions the same as the <em>Sims 1<\/em> expansions, but with new names?)<\/p>\n<p>Ubisoft continues to beat on the long dead <em>Settlers<\/em> franchise, even after last year&#8217;s <em>Heritage of Kings<\/em> RTS misfire. Will <em>XIII Century<\/em> be this year&#8217;s <em>Imperial Glory<\/em> &#8211; a <em>Total War<\/em>-ish game that somehow misses the point?<\/p>\n<p>The big title of September is <em>World in Conflict<\/em>, a late Cold War RTS that opens with the Red Army emerging from container ships in the Pacific Northwest. Sierra\/Massive has a tough balancing act. They need to make a good single player RTS, since most people still play games on their own. But they also have an innovative multiplayer option that allows teams to control different aspects of the battle.<\/p>\n<p>And is there a worse name for a game than <em>Jazz: Hired Guns<\/em>?
