Like when the rumor slanders a publication&#8217;s credibility. <a href=\"http:\/\/bunnyears.net\/dan\/?p=129\">And is based entirely on a Gamespot forum post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There seems to be this idea that if you say that it is just a rumor, you can get away with anything. You aren&#8217;t making a direct accusation or claim, you are just saying that someone told you something. You make no claims as to its veracity. It&#8217;s as if the word &#8220;rumor&#8221; is a catch-all disclaimer.<\/p>\n<p>So, in the interests of keeping up with the Joneses, here are a bunch of rumors which I have not confirmed and which may have even started with me.<\/p>\n<p>1) The next <em>Civilization<\/em> will be real time, with a story based campaign. And &#8220;elf&#8221; will be one of the nations.<br \/>\n2) Illwinter is selling the <em>Dominions<\/em> franchise to Microsoft. They love turn based strategy in Redmond.<br \/>\n3) EA Sports is getting ready to unveil its new dressage simulation at a press event this summer.<br \/>\n4) Bruce Geryk doesn&#8217;t really suck at RTS games; &#8220;Tom v Bruce&#8221; is all theatrics to raise Chick&#8217;s self-esteem. You know what actors are like.<br \/>\n5) My positive review of <em>Europa Universalis III<\/em> was bought by a Swedish bikini cartel.
